Ahead of the Rihanna x River Island collaboration, which will be showcased at LFW in February, the high street store is partnering with Paris-trained, London-based designer Georgia Hardinge for a SS13 collection. The collaboration is part of River Island's Design Forum, teaming up with William Tempest for last season. High street giant River Island's successful initiative, Design Forum offers emerging designers an opportunity to deliver a collection to a much wider audience.

Recognised for her interesting combination of soft and feminine fabrics with abstract print and structural, textured shapes, Hardinge's first high street collection will reflect the ethereal aesthetic of her ready-to-wear collection, featuring both clothing and accessories. Hardinge launched her first collection during LFW in 2009 and her pieces have since been worn by music's leading ladies, Beyoncé, Florence Welch, Paloma Faith and Jessie J. River Island initially approached Hardinge about the collaboration a year ago and she was "immediately excited" about the project.

The 14-piece collection consists of dramatic gowns, including a neoprene printed dress and a sleek, print maxi skirt with matching top. Hardinge took inspiration from Swiss surrealist painter and sculptor H.R. Giger "I have a fascination with sculpture and love to transfer this 3D way of working into clothing - the main showpiece which is shown in the film was sculpted to flatter and mould around the female silhouette."Georgia's collection will launch via a short film at the Fash/On Film event at LFW, and will be available in River Island stores from early April.
