Mykki Blanco's new music video 'Feeling Special' has just been released as an exclusive District MTV X co-production with Academy Films. The new video from the fierce teenage-girl rapper alter-ego of the NYC-based performance artist and poet, Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. 'Feeling Special' is taken from Mykki Blanco's forthcoming debut EP release, Betty Rubble: The Initiation, out 21 May.

Storming her way onto the pop music landscape less than 12 months ago with the inimitable Cosmic Angel mixtape, Mykki Blanco has already cemented a place in our hearts and minds. Lyrical genius and visual whirlwind, combining a serious sense of style with a take-no-prisoners upfront attitude, this is an artist that knows exactly how to make an impact.

Filmed on a recent visit to London, this Danny Sangra directed promo envisions Mykki as Lauren Bacall in a darkly twisted Film Noir scene. Looking back to the sense of fantasy conjured up by the 1950s cinema and combining it with a knowingly naïve aesthetic, 'Feeling Special' turns pop-culture on its head.

"Feeling Special" from Mykki Blanco's debut EP Betty Rubble: The Initiation is out May 21.
